Our Work
At One Young Generation, our work is a living ecosystem. We don’t just solve one problem; we address the interconnected challenges of hunger, poverty, and lack of opportunity. Our model is built on the simple belief that empowering a single mother can nourish a child, who in turn can build a brighter future for the entire community.
This isn’t charity; it’s sustainable transformation. By linking agricultural training, fair markets, and school nutrition, we create a powerful cycle where every success fuels the next. The result is a community that is not only fed, but also empowered, employed, and filled with hope.

Nourishing Minds, Fueling the Future
We believe a hungry child cannot learn. A daily, nutritious meal is the single most important tool we can provide for
a child’s educational journey. It improves concentration, boosts attendance, and gives children the physical and mental energy they need
to thrive in the classroom and beyond.
Our School Feeding Program is the heart of our mission, turning community-grown produce into the fuel for the next generation of leaders,
thinkers, and innovators.
How it works
Sustainability and dignity are central to our approach. We believe lasting change happens when communities are engaged, respected, and empowered. That’s why we use a shared-responsibility model that promotes ownership, pride, and long-term impact.
We work closely with parents especially single mothers encouraging active involvement in their children’s well-being. We cover 50% of school meal costs, while parents contribute the rest. This creates partnership and accountability, making families key players in shaping their children’s future.
By blending support with empowerment, we protect parental dignity and ensure the program is sustainable, scalable, and community-driven. With the right tools, every parent can be a catalyst for change.

The 50/50 Partnership Model
Empowered Parents Fund 50%
The remaining half of each school meal cost is proudly contributed by the parents themselves, many of whom are the single mothers empowered through our farming program. Their ability to consistently support their children’s meals reflects not only improved livelihoods but also a renewed sense of dignity, purpose, and pride. This contribution isn’t just financial it’s a powerful statement of commitment to their children’s education and well-being. By investing in their children’s future, these parents become active stakeholders in the success of both their families and the wider community.
One Young Generation Funds 50%:
Profits from our farmer group’s produce sales are strategically reinvested to fund half the cost of every school meal. This model not only ensures that children receive nutritious food but also strengthens the local agricultural economy. By turning farm surplus into a reliable revenue stream, we’re able to make school meals more accessible, reduce the burden on struggling families, and keep children in school, focused, and ready to learn. It’s a cycle of growth, empowerment, and nourishment—where every seed planted helps feed a brighter future.
Stories from the Classroom

Empowering Single Mothers
From Vulnerability to Self-Reliance
The women of rural Uganda are the quiet pillars of their communities resilient, resourceful, and deeply devoted to their families. At One Young Generation, we recognize their strength and stand with them not through handouts, but by offering practical tools, training, and long-term support to help them thrive. We work with vulnerable single mothers, many of whom have faced immense challenges, equipping them with commercial farming skills, business knowledge, and the confidence to manage their own income.
This empowerment doesn’t just change one life it ripples across households and communities. A mother who can feed her children today can send them to school tomorrow and guide them with strength and dignity. By empowering a mother, we ensure her children grow up nourished, educated, and raised by a self-sufficient role model. This is how we build sustainable change one mother, one family, one future at a time.
